James Hartley (Writer/Director)

James is an award winning director, writer, and actor of theatre and film. In 2013 he was awarded Best Director at Short+Sweet Sydney, the world’s largest short play festival. He has been involved in shows that performed in the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia. Most recently he has been involved in directed world premieres of new Australian works including This Modern Coil (2016), Fragments by Maura Pierlot (2018), and The Mona Lisa Five edited by himself and Atlas Adams (2020). He is also an award winning improviser winning Impro Australia’s Scriptless Cup with his team in 2018 and runs the Upper Crass Players improv troupe. He has created and starred in two improvised feature films (Get Help (2017) and The Mona Lisa Five (2020)) as well as the hour long improvised dramatic play Ibsen Improvised (2019).

Rose montgomery (Designer)

Rose is a set, costume and props designer working between Sydney and London. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Design for Performance from The National Institute of Dramatic Art, Australia, where she designed The Colby Sisters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and The Way Of The World. Rose has foundations in architecture and cultural studies, and is passionate about designing for new dramatic theatre, opera and dance works. Rose has worked on award-winning productions presented in London’s West End, the English National Opera, the National Theatre, The Old Vic and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA. She has also worked with the Australian DJ Flume, creating pop-up spaces for his 2019 European tour. Most recently Rose was costume designer for Theatrical Niche's UK touring production of Uncle Vanya, and associate costume designer for the 2020 Sadler's Wells and Universal Music dance production Message In A Bottle at London's Peacock Theatre.

shayan askari (booker)

Shayan is a Sydney-based actor from Iran. Having studied a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts at AIM, he has been involved with Farsi theatre in Sydney as an actor, voice actor, and producer. With Ayla Theatre he has performed plays by Chekhov, Woody Allen, and Matei Visniec. Comedy has been a major part of Shayan’s collaboration with TVtamin. Most recently he played the role of Kaveh in a short film “Afar”, which has been officially selected for the Cannes Short Film Corner and the Persian Film Festival in Sydney. He has performed in physical pieces such as Inception Show at UTS and Clouds at AIM, as well as After Dinner and Who's Afraid of the Working Class by Andrew Bovell. Shayan’s latest theatre credit includes playing Brett Sprague in Graham Gordon’s The Boys. Shayan has performed as Sebastian in Twelfth Night, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Caliban in The Tempest, all with Fingerless Theatre.

edward Frame (zachary)

Edward is an actor of Australian, Papua New Guinean and Scottish heritage, his heritage has been depicted as a kangaroo, with an afro, wearing a kilt. Edward was born and raised in Papua New Guinea where as a youth he starred in five different school productions before moving to Queensland to study Business Management, while also studying acting & improvisation and film making. He has since moved to Sydney and performed stand up comedy while studying screen acting at the Sydney Actors Association under the tutelage of Sam Haft. Having been away from the stage for some years though Edward is thrilled to make his return to stage as a part of the team putting together This Modern Coil under the umbrella of the Upper Crass Theatre Production.

KAZE Productions (Lighting and Sound)

KAZE Productions is comprised of the individuals Kodie Amos and Zach Edmunds, two entertainment technicians that came together to make a mark on the Australian entertainment industry both locally and across NSW. They are based in the Greater Penrith Valley Region with over 10 years in amateur theater and operating the technical side of the King Street theater for five years between them.

“We came together with our 10 years of experience to create a business that provides our clients with all their function's needs: from birthdays to weddings, theatre shows to business conferences, you name it and we will source and organise the gear to make it go off without an issue.”

 

aileen fang (theatre designer)

Aileen Fang is a production designer and art department assistant for film, tv and theatre. She became interested in working in these fields after seeing a lack of positive representation in media growing up. She strives to create authentic worlds through visual storytelling using a keen attention to detail and creative problem solving skills. She was standby props on queer feature film Ellie and Abbie (And Ellie’s Dead Aunt), which won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at Mardi Gras Film Festival. She's interested in working on a variety of projects that challenge people's perspectives.
